Local Development Framework
The Forward Planning Team have commenced the production of the Borough's Local Development Framework|, which in due course will replace the saved Borough Local Plan. The Local Development Framework is a portfolio of documents that will guide development within the Borough up to 2026. Documents included within the Local Development Framework portfolio are:
Forward Plans Documents
The Forward Plans Documents| page provides a comprehensive list of documents that the Forward Planning Team have adopted. These documents contribute to the Borough's Local Development Framework.
Evidence Base Documents
The Evidence Base Document| page outlines key evidence base documents that support the preparation of the Borough's Local Development Framework.
Local Plan
The existing Oadby and Wigston Local Plan| was initially adopted in October 1999. Since its adoption in 1999, various Local Plan policies have become defunct through changes to Government Planning Act, although some policies have been saved indefinitely until superseded by the Local Development Framework.
Supplementary Planning Guidance
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)| are gradually replacing Supplementary Planning Guidance Note (SPGs)|. In time all existing SPGs will be superseded by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)|.
Development Briefs and Policy Statements
Development Briefs and Policy Statements| explain in greater detail the proposed development of individual sites, groups of sites or further planning considerations for types of development.
Conservation Areas
Conservation areas| are areas of special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. Conservation Area Appraisals| have been produced giving additional guidance.
Listed Buildings
A Listed Building| is a building or structure which is considered to be of special architectural or historic interest.
Planning Policy Framework
The planning system operates at different levels of governance. When preparing local planning policies, that are significant to the Borough, we are guided by a planning policy framework| which consists of national, regional and local levels of governance.
Eco-Town
The Pennbury Eco Town |proposed by the Co-Operative Group and English Partnerships was planned for land to the North-East of the Borough in the District of Harborough.
