Stop and Tell Campaign to Raise Awareness of Hate Crime - 25/01/2010

From 25 January to 29 January 2010, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council Community Safety Team will be running a hate crime awareness week.

A hate incident can be physical, verbal or written abuse. Incidents take many forms, but essentially involve someone being targeted because they are believed to be different because of age, disability, gender, race, religion, belief or sexual orientation.

The week of action will centre on raising awareness of where residents can report hate crimes in the borough and how to report a hate crime.

These locations include South Wigston, Wigston and Oadby Library, the main Council Offices on Station Road in Wigston and also The Young People Centre on Holmden Avenue in Wigston – these locations will be offering information and advice throughout the week.

The week’s events include:

Monday 25 January:

  • Training for local professionals at County Hall

The following event dates will have Information Boards on Hate Crime and where residents can report an incident:-
