Backdating Benefit

 

If the claimant, or your partner, is aged 60 or over benefit can normally be backdated for a period not exceeding 3 months.

 

If the claimant, or your partner, are aged under 60 benefit can normally be backdated for a period not exceeding 6 months.

 

If you are under 60 and would like benefit to be backdated you will have to show that you had a good reason why you did not apply at an earlier date. The attached leaflet gives further information regarding backdating benefit.

 

There are several ways to make a claim for backdated benefit. You can either complete the backdated benefit request form, send us a letter, or complete the form included with the benefit application form. Please ensure that you state full reasons why you are claiming backdated benefit, and the date to which you wish it to be backdated.
