2nd Line Support Engineer

Salary: £29,269 - £32,076 (Pay Award Pending)

This is a Permanent Full Time position

Oadby and Wigston Borough council are looking for an experienced, ambitious and passionate IT professional to take up the helm of 2nd line IT Support Engineer within a newly created IT team.

Reporting to the IT Team Manager, this role will initially be required to provide technical support to the staff of the council from a 2nd line level of expertise.

Whilst the role is titled 2nd line Support Engineer, you will be offered opportunities for growth in specific areas of IT that are both required by the council and the candidate’s specific interests. These could be in security, networking, automation, or service levels in general, amongst others.

The emphasis of the role initially will be fulfilling the technical needs of the council and the department, but with such a small team at the start of the journey, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the role as you see fit, whilst also positioning yourself into a path that leads to your desired field of choice within IT.

Working within an initial team of 4-5 members you will need strong interpersonal skills, excellent team ethic and initiative. The team is expected to work collaboratively and will be a place of support and respect both to its members and the greater council at large.

If you are looking for a 2nd Line role which seeks to not only meet the technical needs of the council but looks to foster a strong bond amongst its team members and offers opportunities for genuine knowledge transfer and growth, then this is one that stands out amongst the rest!
