Funding is available for energy efficiency improvements to homes in Oadby & Wigston at no cost to residents with the Home Upgrade Grant.
The scheme in detail
We are working with YES Energy Solutions to provide residents with home improvements fully funded by the Government.
The upgrades will help reduce energy bills, keep homes warmer and reduce carbon emissions.
This scheme is for homes that are heated mainly by electric, oil, coal or wood.
Homeowners and private renters can apply if they think they meet the eligibility criteria and their property is suitable.
Landlords must make a contribution to cover a minimum of one third of the total costs of the measures installed.
Are you eligible?
The schemes will help residents living in homes with poor energy efficiency ratings who also have a low income.
To qualify householders must:
- Have a household income of £31,000 or less,
Or
- Receive income related benefits
If you live in a certain postcode, you are automatically eligible - these are listed by the Government which the YES team can check for you.
Is your property eligible?
You must also live in a property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, G.
Find your EPC on the Government’s website here.
Your property type and structure will impact what you can receive.
What will you receive?
If you qualify for the scheme, your property will undergo a survey to see which improvements would improve its warmth and efficiency the most.
Your property type will also affect how much funding you can receive.
If you and your property is eligible for the measure(s) in the scheme, surveyors will create a plan that selects one or more measures to provide maximum benefits.
Last year the funding helped 66 households save an average of £600 on their energy bills each year.
