Fixed Penalty and Civil Penalties
You may have received a fixed penalty notice or a Civil Penalty. This Notice offers you the opportunity of discharging any liability to conviction for the offence by payment of a penalty.
Pay your fixed penalty or civil penalty
The Council will have given a discount for early payment within 10 days.
No proceedings will be taken for the offence before the expiration of fourteen days following the date of the notice. If you do not pay the fixed penalty notice within the time you may be prosecuted for the offence and if convicted could receive a much larger fine. For offence LG9 this will involve civil proceedings.
The fixed penalty amount for offences are shown below and the legislation the fine has been issued under, including discounted rates for payment within 10 days.

Civil Penalties
These are issued in accordance with the Councils policy on Civil Penalty under the Housing Act 2004 Civil Penalty (Word Document, 82.48 Kb) this is as an alternative to prosecution by the Council under the Housing Act 2004.
The penalty is derived from the culpability of the offences committed and the harm from the offences and is applied using the table below and is cumulative - each offence is considered and then added to a total.
