Apprentice Discount

If you are an apprentice living with no or one other adult in your household, you may be entitled to a reduction in your council tax.

To be eligible for this discount you will need a declaration from your employer stating that:

• You are not paid more than £195 per week. Payslips will be required as proof of earnings.
• The training leads to a qualification accredited by a body recognised by the office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations (Ofqual).

If your application is successful a new bill or exemption notice will be issued to you. In the meantime, bills previously issued must be regarded as correct and due for payment as requested.

It is an offence under the council tax regulations for a person to knowingly provide false or misleading information to the council. The fine for this offence is £1000.
